Reading: We are studying Poetry. We have listened to poetry, using our ears to hear, our hearts to feel and our minds to visualize. We are learning about famous poets like Langston Hughes.
Writing: We have been writing poems. Each student has their own poetry notebook and they are learning how to write poems. We have been trying out different elements of poetry-rhythm, rhyme, alliteration, line breaks, sensory images, taking poetic license.
Math: We have been decomposing the numbers through 10.. We will continue to practice counting by 1's, 2's, 5's and 10's, working on place value, adding and subtracting and using number bonds.
We are beginning our unit on money. We will learn all about pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. Wait until you see their BIG money.
Social Studies/Science: We learned all about American History and Citizenship. We are talking about what it takes to be a good citizen and the character traits that great leaders have!
We will begin our unit on the Sun's Energy after Spring Break.
